This article covers the theoretical foundations of translation studies, its current development trends and ideas found in general scientific literature on the problems of interlingual communication and the role of the translator’s cultural competence, pragmatic compatibility and modern technologies in interlangual communication. Furthermore, it examines the difficulties encountered in translating phraseological units and methods for solving them, as well as the impact of grammatical and lexical differences between two languages on the quality of translation with examples.
