Reading skills forms a fundamental pillar in foreign language acquisition,
particularly at the A1 beginner level where learners establish their initial literacy skills in the target language. This article exmines the theoretical and practical foundations underlying the development of reading skills at the A1 proficiency level in English as a Foreign Language (EFL) contexts. Drawing upon current research in second language acquisition and pedagogical practices, this study explores the cognitive processes involved in early-stage reading, effective instructional strategies, and the role of authentic materials in fostering reading competence among novice learners.
